About Catalyst for Kids

Catalyst for Kids is a coalition of child welfare professionals, consumers, advocates, and decision-makers who are partnering for systems changes that foster justice and improve outcomes for all children and families in the child welfare system.

Catalyst's work contributes to and leverages statewide efforts to achieve the following outcomes for children and families:

  • Reduced length of stay in foster care
  • Increased rates of reunification
  • Reduced re-entry into foster care
  • Outcome equity among all races and ethnicities

Strategies to foster these outcomes include:

  • Convene child welfare constituents and stakeholders at regional and statewide gatherings
  • Build and staff coalitions, including the Washington State Parent Advocacy Committee and the King County Racial Disproportionality Coalition
  • Ensure that the voice of the community is heard in the development of policies and practices that affect them
  • Advocate for policy and practice that will improve outcomes for children and families
  • Leverage resources to implement child welfare reform

Funding

Catalyst for Kids is funded through grants and contracts from the Children's Administration, Casey Family Programs, and private foundations, through contributions from private donors, and through support from Children's Home Society of Washington.
